SNOW!

It's pretty exciting to have some snow dusting the streets of Vancouver.

I'm reminded of a winter wedding I photographed at Cypress Hills Provincial Park where the groom's biggest hope for his wedding day was snow... and we got plenty of it!

...love these!

Wide Open Spaces Series

My computer lately has begun to take on the "look" of my office - slightly unorganized chaos. (The sign of a genius, right?!)
My filing system is currently a little mixed up, and upon searching for a certain prairie image, I stumbled upon these - images that I haven't shared yet.

I had been visiting my folks in March of 2008 and my dad (who initially inspired me and nurtured my love of photography) took me into the rolling hills of Southwest Saskatchewan along the old Red Coat Trail. There's not much there anymore, except for some glimpses of the past and reminders of what was.

These show my love of the landscape where I grew up - big skies and rolling plains. As much as I love Vancouver, there's a piece of my heart that will always be in that land.

Fashionista!

I was so lucky to spend the afternoon with Raine & her mom at one of their favourite places - Granville Island! Raine has such beautiful, bright eyes, a contagious laugh and a great fashion sense! (I think she gets that from her mom - the owner of Narcissist Design Co.)

Needless to say, I had such a great time!
Thanks ladies!

Raine... and no rain.

I was all set with umbrellas at Granville Island for typical Vancouver November rain... and as luck would have it, no rain for Raine's session! :-)

I had so much fun photographing this energetic fashionista!
This is just a peek... I'll be posting more soon!

I'm pretty excited that this image of the Bronze: Montreal 1976 cocktail from the YEW restaurant+bar has made it into the Globe and Mail, as well as CTV's site!

If you missed it, images of the Gold: Vancouver 2010 and Silver: Calgary 1988 cocktails are on my Gold-Silver-Bronze at YEW Restaurant+Bar blog post, and Suite 101.com.

Grrrrr!

This puppy's name was "Grrrrr!" - what a sweetie!
It was pretty difficult to distract Grrrr from all the smells and leaves, but we did and only for a moment...

Thanks for playing in the sun with me!

Family Time

I've got a pretty fantastic job - I get to meet new people all the time! And every connection is a little different. This family came to me through another photography friend and I lucked out with some sunshine during our session!

I love seeing people change from formal to casual in an hour's time - a mini-glimpse into their lives.

Thanks for all the smiles!

Catching a smile

Smiles... sometimes it requires a little extra work to bring out of the little ones...

... the trick with this little guy is The Swing. Apparently it works every time!

Glorious colours, wind and waves

Rainy days are funny in Vancouver... they give you brief moments of sunshine, and you've got to jump on it!

The sun came out, and, despite the winds, we made our way over to Stanley Park for some fabulous sunshine and fall colours!

I absolutely LOVE this one!

What a day! So happy to post these - hope you enjoy!

Red Sands of a special Nova Scotia Beach

I spent Thanksgiving in the Annapolis Valley (Nova Scotia) this year to see the autumn colours and catch up with a few dear friends. Beautiful... I love that place.

While I was there, I photographed these fine folks...

Teak loves the beaches!

This was one photosession I was extra excited about for a few reasons:
: I photographed Emma & Eugene's wedding on this same beach & cliff a few years back
: I finally got to meet & photograph Liam, a year after he was born!
: I love the red sands and big tides of the Minas Basin

I wish it wasn't a 7 hour flight to get there from where I live now so I could visit more often! Thanks for this session - love you guys.

Beautiful & Unique!

Sarah Holmes is a live wire - full of life and big laughs, and she's able to create beautiful and interesting pieces like these. I was lucky to be able to photograph them... actually, I think it was the easy part! Creating these pieces seems so complicated to me, but not to Sarah. She just works her magic. ;-)
