The Far West

Last spring my folks spent a week out on Vancouver Island with me. Of course, the Tofino/Ucluelet/Long Beach side of the Island was a very important part of the trip - and was well worth the drive! It is such a beautiful and rugged part of the country - I love spending time there.

Summer Sweetness

There's something special in being an AUNT. I am aunt Marlis to Anna, and I was pleased as punch when Anna brought her parents to BC last summer to visit, and of course, I needed to photograph her!
Today I felt like playing around with some of the fun images that we created, and I feel like playing more! I will have to add another image later...

Here's to my sweetness!

The Heavens

These images were captured north of Cochrane, Alberta at a place called Camp Valaqua.
We got quite a show that night - the lights started small, and just kept getting better and better! I haven't seen Northern Lights in a long time, and it's been even longer since I've seen the entire sky fill up with them. Every time is magical. If you have yet to see them, GO NORTH! It seems like the opposite trend from hot holidays, but northern Canada is so beautiful in a different way.
Anyways, that night I was so excited to see the lights... and I had forgotten my tripod! I managed to get a few images and spent the rest of the time just relishing the glory of the Heavens.

Sunsets

There's something to be said about a beautiful sunset, though I find it hard to describe the beauty with words - a picture just says it all.
This image was taken in early March in Seal Bay on Vancouver Island. Being a prairie girl, I feel at home with a beautiful sky surrounding me, even when the mountains and trees block your view! ;-)

The Sweetest Thing

I had the privilege last month to photograph Nova & 9-week-old Ivorie. I met Nova when she volunteered to be a model for one of my portfolio portrait sessions (there are some stunning images from that session that I will have to share in the future!). When I found out that she was expecting, I asked to photograph her near the end of her term, but little Ivorie couldn't wait until the end and arrived 7 weeks before her due date! Thankfully, she is a healthy & happy baby - such a little sweetie - and she is as comfortable in front of the camera as her beautiful mother.

Thanks Nova & Ivorie for a fantastic session!

Full of Sunshine

There's nothing I like more than sunshine. Well, there are things I like as much as sunshine (ahem... photography! and chocolate, of course). And today being sunshine-y, I feel the need to post a sunny day image I captured last summer while visiting Lac Pellitier in southwest Saskatchewan (one of my favourite SW Sask. places).

I like the idea of "CHARGE"! I feel like that is how life is sometimes... we just need to charge forward into a world full of sunshine. Yes, sunshine brings out the optimist in me.

ps. I'm happy to have my first image posted!

Well, here we go!

Hello!
I am making my first step into the land of the blogger. It feels like a big step... yet it is just a baby step in my upcoming online presence. Though it was one of those steps that I wanted to take for a long time, but I think I had a big piece of gum on my shoe and it was stuck!

Okay, enough with the metaphors!

Here I am, and I need to find the first image to put on my new blog! After all, that's what it's all about!

(you put your left foot in, you put your left foot out. ... you put your left foot in, and you shake it all about. .......... )

;-)
